Before you go

The mountain code, in short

Leave your route and expected return time with someone at home or at the cabin. Check the weather on yr.no and the avalanche forecast on varsom.no.

Wind on a ridge feels very different from wind in the valley. Pick the route for the day you have, not the day you hoped for.

Always carry a windproof shell, a warm layer, hat and gloves, food and a headlamp. Our shop has a packing list for every season.

First aid kit, a fully charged phone, a map and compass. A satellite messenger is wise above the treeline.

In winter, stay on slopes under 30 degrees unless you are trained. Join our winter mountain safety course to learn more.

The summit is optional. Getting home is not. Set a turnaround time and stick to it.
